Ben Phiri is a recipient of the Dean’s award and his doctoral thesis is on the 'List of Exceptional Theses'.
To gain a place on the 'Dean's List' a doctoral thesis has to meet very stringent criteria. It has to be submitted on time, and in each case all three examiners must agree that the thesis is of exceptional quality in every respect, including research and analytical content, originality, quality of expression, accuracy of presentation and contribution to knowledge in the field.
